These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Gold Stars application and website ("Gold Stars", the "Service", "we", "us" or "our"). Gold Stars is a family chores, rewards and wellbeing app used by a parent or guardian on behalf of their household. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of the children in your household to create and hold an account. The account holder is responsible for the family and for all activity that takes place under the account.
Children do not have their own accounts, logins or online credentials. They use the Service through your family account in "Kid Mode", under your supervision. You are responsible for deciding what information about your children you enter into the Service.
As the account holder, you confirm that you are authorised to provide, and you do provide, consent on behalf of your household to the collection and use of family information as described in our Privacy Policy. You may withdraw that consent at any time by deleting the relevant information or closing your account, as explained in that policy.
When using Gold Stars you agree not to:
You are responsible for the content you enter (such as member names, chores, rewards, journal entries and wish-list items) and for ensuring you have the right to store it.
Core features are provided free of charge. Where we offer a paid plan, the price, billing frequency and what is included are shown to you before you subscribe. Payments are handled by our third-party payment provider; we do not store your full card details. You can cancel a subscription at any time and cancellation stops future billing; unless required by law, payments already made are not refundable for the period already provided. We may change plan pricing or features on reasonable notice.
The information you enter into Gold Stars remains yours. You can export it, or delete individual entries, members, or all of your data, from within the app (Parent → Family for export, and Parent → Security & Data for deletion). How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
We work to keep Gold Stars available and running well, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted, or free of errors. We may add, change, suspend, or remove features from time to time. If we plan to discontinue the Service, we will give you a reasonable opportunity to export your data first.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these Terms, if required to protect the Service or other users, or if we are required to do so by law. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (such as sections 6, 9, 10 and 11) will continue to apply.
Gold Stars is a tool to help families organise chores, rewards and wellbeing. It is provided "as is" and "as available", and is not a substitute for professional, medical, or psychological advice. Features such as the mood journal are for personal family use only and are not a diagnostic or clinical tool. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties and conditions.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss that is not reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses. If we are found liable to you, our total liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or £50. These Terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the law of England and Wales. You and we agree that the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will ask you to review and accept the updated Terms the next time you sign in. The "last updated" date at the top shows when this version took effect.
If you have any questions about these Terms, contact us at notifications.goldstars@gmail.com.
